The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) in partnership with the Department of Interior and Local Governance (DILG) in Region 02, conducted an orientation on the Cities and Municipalities Competitiveness Index (CMCI) Survey on March 26 in Santiago City, Isabela and on March 21 in Basco, Batanes. Over 200 participants representing the local government units (LGUs) of Region 2 attended the two activities.
The Department of Trade & Industry (DTI) – Quirino Provincial Office recently turned - over three Shared Service Facilities to the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Nagtipunan on March 1. The three SSF projects - Crunchy Corn Making Facility, Egg Processing Facility, and Veggie Noodles and Chips Making Facility – were previously awarded and managed by private organizations. However, due to internal issues, they were unable to continue operating the facilities for a long while thus, the DTI and the the organizations agreed to have LGU Nagtipunan take over the management of these facilities. LGU Nagtipunan signified its intent to take over the projects as one way of supporting the Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) of Nagtipunan, the farthest municipality of the Province of Quirino.
The DTI Regional Office 02 joined other government agencies in observing the first quarterly national simultaneous earthquake drill (NSED) on February 21st. The regular conduct of drills is part of the Cagayan Valley Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council’s effort to promote public awareness on local preparedness and disaster response planning and implementation. Prior to the simulation exercise, the team from Regional Office of the Civil Defense conducted an earthquake preparedness orientation on February 20th at the DTI Regional Office’s Negosyo Center Conference Hall.
