The Department of Trade and Industry Region 02 joins the nation in the celebration of National Flag Day as all of its Provincial Offices in Nueva Vizcaya, Isabela, Cagayan, Quirino, Batanes and Regional Office conduct the ceremonial flag raising and “Pagpupugay sa Watawat” in their respective areas.

National Flag Day is celebrated every 28th of May, commemorating the day of the Battle of Alapan, the first military victory of Emilio Aguinaldo after his return from exile in Hongkong.  In Philippine history, it was a decisive victory which led to the raising of the Philippine flag for the first time in Imus, Cavite.

National Flag Day is observed nationwide by virtue of of Republic Act No. 8491, the Flag and Heraldic Code of the Philippines wherein for the 15 day period starting May 28 to June 12, the national government encourages every Filipino to display the Philippine flag in their homes, establishments, vehicles and other public places to commemorate the heroes who fought for our independence and freedom.
