Creating a strong place brand helps a place compete in the global marketplace.
Under this premise, the Provincial Government of Nueva Vizcaya sought the assistance of the Department of Trade and Industry Regional Office 02 (DTI Region 02) and the Canadian Executive Service Organization (CESO) in creating a strong place brand that would reflect what the Province of Nueva Vizcaya represents today and what it aspires to be in the future.
In an entry meeting held on Monday, January 14 at the Governor’s Office, Capitol Compound in Bayombong, Nueva Vizcaya, DTI R02’s OIC - Assistant Regional Director (ARD) Ma. Salvacion Castillejos and CESO’s Volunteer Advisor (VA) Ira Teich formalized the start of the consultancy engagement with the Province of Nueva Vizcaya represented by Governor Carlos M. Padilla and Vice-Governor Epifanio Lambert D. Galima. Governor Padilla mentioned his vision of a progressive Nueva Vizcaya province focused on environmental protection during the talks that followed the introductions.
CESO VA Ira Teich said he was excited to work on the place branding of Nueva Vizcaya not only because it is his first time in the province but also because of its unique landscape. Among the provinces that comprise the Cagayan Valley Region, Nueva Vizcaya is the only land-locked province whose climate is comparatively cooler than the other provinces of Region 02.
During his two - week engagement for this assignment from January 14 to 26, VA Ira Teach will be conducting consultations and discussions with key stakeholders including the business sector and the indigenous peoples of Nueva Vizcaya. He will also be visiting a lot of the tourist destinations and historical sites of the province.
OIC ARD Castillejos cited that Nueva Vizcaya is the third province in Region 02 to avail of the services of CESO VA Ira Teich on place branding. Prior to this assignment, VA Teich took on the place branding engagement in the island Province of Isabela and the Cities of Cauayan and Santiago, Isabela.
CESO is a not-for-profit organization established in 1967 and based in Canada. It has a pool of volunteer advisors (VAs) who are senior level professionals helping to catalyze local economic growth by transferring their skills and knowledge to partner communities and organizations. DTI Region 02 has a five-year Partnership Action Plan with CESO in place from 2015 to 2020 which is focused on assisting MSMEs grow and sustain their business in the priority industry clusters of the region.
