Three days before the Christmas, the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Region 02 gave the best present to the beneficiaries of the Brand Equity Development Program by unveiling some of the new label designs developed by professional designers and the registration of their brand names with the Intellectual Property Office. This became possible through the conduct of a one-day Symposium on Strategic Marketing and Trademark Registration on December 22, 2017 at Villa Blanca Hotel, Tuguegarao City, Cagayan.
In his opening message, DTI Region 2 OIC Regional Director Ruben B. Diciano highlighted the market prospects of products with strong brand names and the duty of the entrepreneurs to strengthen their marketing strategies to demand market preference and loyalty.
Mr. Michael Paggabao, the BrEDP project coordinator of DTI Region 02 presented the background of the program and the objectives of the activity.
Mr. Jerry Yao, dubbed as the Marketing Sensei of the country, gave a talk on Strategic Marketing for MSMEs with emphasis on brand positioning and strengthening while Engr. Ma. Teresa Quintos of the Intellectual Property Office discussed the importance of trademarks as well as the procedures for IPO registration and the JUANA Program. Prior to the registration for IPO and application for JUANA, the new label designs were presented to the MSME-beneficiaries which have generated positive feedback from all the clients. Approximately 35 brands were filed with the IPO during the activity.
