The Regional Competitiveness Committee (RCC), chaired by the Department of Trade and Industry – Region 02 (DTI), convened for its 2nd business meeting on September 05, 2017 at the Conference Hall, DTI Cagayan Provincial Office, Tuguegarao City, Cagayan.
The meeting, which was attended by eleven (11) out of its thirteen (13) member-institutions, sought to discuss several programs and proposals that seek to strengthen and develop the business-friendliness and competitiveness of the Local Government Units (LGUs) in the region.
In his Welcome Remarks, DTI OIC Regional Director Ruben B. Diciano expressed his delight with the performance of the committee. He stressed out that the RCC’s implementation of its work program prepares the region to cater the needs of its internal and external clients and help the LGUs secure a position in the list of most competitive LGUs. Lastly, he thanked the participants for their steadfast and priceless commitment in advancing the socio-economic interest and growth of Region 02.
Among the topics discussed were the “Results of the 2017 Cities and Municipalities Competitiveness Index (CMCI) Survey”, “Conduct of the 2nd Cagayan Valley Regional Competitiveness Forum”, “1st Regional Meeting of Business Permits and Licensing Officers (BPLOs)”, “Conduct of the 2017 Business Permits and Licensing System (BPLS) Field Monitoring and Evaluation Survey”, “Results of the 2017 BPLS Customer Experience Survey”, “Results of the 2016 BPLS Field Monitoring and Evaluation Survey”, “Department of Information and Communications Technology’s Electronic BPLS Program”, and “Department of Tourism’s Air Connectivity Program”.
In closing, OIC Division Chief Mary Jane C. Cabauatan conveyed the message of Regional Director Marilyn T. Estrada of the Philippine Statistics Authority – Region 02 (PSA). In the message, RD Estrada expressed PSA’s support in the initiatives of the RCC and thanked everyone who attended and contributed to the success of the meeting. OIC DC Cabauatan added that the agency has a pool of statisticians and statistical specialist who could assist in the programs that are being implemented by the committee.
