Skills Upgrading Trainings on Wine Processing were conducted for the members of the Sto. Niño Integrated Social Forestry Association on June 20, 2017 and June 28, 2017 at the STISFA Food Processing Center at Brgy. Sto. Niño, Maddela, Quirino.
The activities were conducted in response to the request of the officers of the association to improve the quality of their existing wine product and to explore the possibility of coming up with more wines using other tropical fruits available in the area. The activity also aimed to maximize the utilization of the SSF machines/equipment provided to the association.
Among the outputs produced were pineapple wine, bignay wine, cassava wine and pineapple vinegar.
The trainer, Ms. Merlyn Tayaban, a local producer of fruit juices and wines served as the trainer during the activity. She also taught them how to prepare ginger tea as well as lemongrass juice. Both materials are also abundant in the area.
