The Department of Trade and Industry-Batanes Provincial Office held its ground-breaking ceremony for its proposed building on March 31, 2017 at Sayad, Basco, Batanes.

The event was graced by DTI assistant Secretary for Regional Operations Group Blesila A. Lantayona who was assisted by Batanes Governor, Marilou H. Cayco and DTI R02 OIC Regional Director, Mr. Ruben B. Diciano.

The 300 square-meter lot was provided by the Department of Agriculture-Batanes Experiment Station (DA-BES) through a usufruct agreement with DTI, renewable for 15 years.

DTI Batanes Provincial Caretaker, Ms. Marietta Salviejo thanked various stakeholders supporting the office. She accentuated that once the construction of the building is done, DTI will be able to provide improved and better quality service to the industry, trade and services sector of the province. The proposed DTI Building will serve as the main center-point of the business sector since it will feature the provincial Negosyo Center that provides necessary services ad assistances in helping businesses to grow.

It will also serve as the avenue to promote the finest products and services by the local industry. The two-story building will feature state-of-the-art facilities that will ease doing businesses and training hall for continuous development and growth of the local, micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs). Php. 2 Million have already been downloaded for the initial construction of the structure.

As a manifestation of the overwhelming support to the DTI from different stakeholders and sectors, the ceremony was attended by Vice Governor Ronald A. Aguto, Provincial Administrator Ramonito D. Imperial, PCCI-Batanes Chapter President Dennis I. Lim, DA-BES Center Chief Celso B. Batallones, representatives from other national agencies and the academe.
