The Overseas Workers Welfare Administrator (OWWA) Region 2, in collaboration with the Department of Trade and Industry - Nueva Vizcaya (DTI-NV) conducted a one (1) day Balik-Pinas, Balik-Hanapbuhay Program to Overseas Filipino Workers on March 30, 2017 at the Nueva Vizcaya Livelihood and Pasalubong Center, Bayombong, Nueva Vizcaya.

The seminar aims to promote the welfare and interest of OFWs and their families particularly on economic endeavor and to guide OFW-entrepreneurs in improving their socio-economic life and in facilitating their reintegration into the societal mainstream. The seminar focuses on Financial Literacy and Enhance Entrepreneurship Development for OFWs and their families.

DTI Nueva Vizcaya Chief Trade Industry Development Specialist Mr. Alberto D. Pamatian discussed topics on Entrepreneurship. He explained the strategies on how to start a small enterprise, relevance of being an entrepreneur and the right characteristics needed in entrepreneurship and determining products/service. He also gave emphasis on the risk and opportunities of Entrepreneurship.

On the other hand, DTI Nueva Vizcaya Senior Trade-Industry Devt. Specialist Ms. Mariza M. Dolor discussed topics on Business Planning and Preparation. She made emphasis on the value of a business plan and discussed the different strategies on how to prepare and use a successful business plan. A sample of a sari-sari store business plan was also presented during the discussion.

About 46 OFW participants from the 15 municipalities of Nueva Vizcaya attended the seminar. They were provided with the pro-forma of a Simplified Business Plan and each part of the plan was clearly explained as part of their workshop by Ms. Mariza M. Dolor, one of the resource speakers.

The activity offered a financial amount of ₱10,000.00 to encourage the OFWs to start their business rather than go back abroad.
