DTI Region 2 Provincial Directors and the Industry Coordinators agreed during the industry cluster meetings and workshops on February 02 and February 20-21, 2017 to designate a lead province for each of the identified priority industry clusters in region 2 to ensure optimum development of the industries

The eight (8) identified regional priority industry clusters were Coffee, Cacao, Processed Fruits and Nuts (Mango, Pineapple, Banana, Calamansi and Peanut), Bamboo, Wearables and Homestyle (Furniture and Furnishings, Gifts, Housewares and Decors), Processed Meat and Fish, Dairy and Rubber.

DTI Region 2 provincial directors will spearhead the designated lead province and will be working with the Regional Coordinators in ensuring the development of the industries.

PD Bernardino Mabborang of DTI-Cagayan will spearhead the Cacao and Processed Meat and Fish sectors; PD Ma. Salvacion Castillejos of DTI-Isabela will lead the Wearables and Homestyle, Bamboo and Dairy while OIC PD Henry O. Conel of DTI-Nueva Vizcaya will lead Coffee and Processed Fruits and Nuts.

Meanwhile, OIC PD Ma. Sofia Narag of DTI-Quirino and OIC PD Marietta Salviejo of DTI-Batanes will take charge of the other Processed Foods and the Regional Office will account for the Rubber industry.

Prior to the workshops, Mr. Michael Paggabao, over-all industry cluster coordinator of DTI-Region 02 together with the InDD Chief, Ms. Mary Ann Dy facilitated the discussions on the different cluster plans and strategies.

During the workshop, participants agreed to align the agency’s new programs such as the Kapatid Mentor Me, OTOP Next Generation, RIPPLES and Go Lokal, in addition to the existing programs and interventions being given by the department.

The workshops were participated in by the respective industry cluster coordinators of each province. They worked on the updating of their MSME clients, finalization of their bottomline targets and crafting of their respective provincial industry cluster plans.

On the last day, the industry coordinators of the Regional Office consolidated the targets and action plans of the provincial offices into synchronized Regional Industry Cluster Action Plans for DTI-Region 02.

With the strong support and passion of the OIC Regional Director Mr. Ruben Diciano in industry clustering and development, the department, through its designated industry officers, is expected to deliver macro and micro interventions to develop the regional priority industries and strengthen the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises of each cluster in collaboration with other regional line agencies.
