The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) R02 awarded various entrepreneurs during the “The Great Cagayan Valley Region 7th OTOP Congress” held at the Mart One Mall, Santiago City on November 26, 2014.

DTI regional director, Atty. Ma. Esperanza C. Banares said that, the annual gathering was organized to give tribute to the region’s local government units (LGUs), One Town One Product (OTOP) micro,small medium enterprises and partners that contributed in the development and sustenance of the OTOP in the region.

Exemplary OTOP entrepreneurs were recognized and awarded during the event with the following categories: Womentrepreneur, Mentrapreneur, Senior Citizen Entrepreneur, Couple Entrepreneur, PWD Entrepreneur, OFW Entrepreneur, and Cooperative Association.

Among the six (6) Womentrepreneur awardees were Ms. Jenifer I. Gabilo, Baked Products of Sabtang Food Processors Association (Batanes), Ms. Kristen G. Reyes, Coffee Blends of Barako Boy Coffee (Batanes), Ms. Jessa Andrea D. Gonzales, Paper Beads and Wearables of Andrea’s Paper Beads (Isabela), Ms. Elma Jane Contreras, Chilli Sauce of EJ Contreras Food Hauz (Santiago City), Ms. Rose Zapanta, Buko Pie of Alfonso Castañeda Processors Association (Lublub, Alfonso Castañeda), and Ms. Melba M. Jolo, Fossilized Flowers of MMJ Fossilized Flowers and Handicrafts (Quirino).

For the Mentrapreneur category, awardees were Mr. Dennis I. Lim, Souvenir Items of Tawsen’s Place (Batanes), Mr. Cesar E. Crisostomo, Chili/Garlic Sauce, Chicharon, Vinegar of CEC Food Ventures (Tuguegarao City),Mr. Dante F. Miravel, candles of Miravel’s Creative & Scented Candles, Mr. Bernardino Antonito, leather crafts of Antonio’s Leather craft (Santiago City), Mr. Rolando Marcos, Tupig of Solano Tupig (Nueva Vizcaya), Mr. Conrado M. Cacayan, Furniture and Fixtures of CM Cacayan Furniture Shop (Quirino),

About five (5) Senior Citizen Entrepreneur awardees were recognized which include Ms. Margarita A. Raterta,Veggie Noodles of San Carlos Veggie Noodles Association (Batanes), Mrs. Edna Bautista, meat products of Gadu RIC Multi-Purpose Cooperative (Cagayan), Mr. Roosevelt Talledo, herbal soap of ARANAAR ARB MPC (Isabela), Ms. Lolita G. Cruz, food products/handicrafts of Lolita's Food Products and Handicrafts (Nueva Vizcaya), and Ms. Joyce V. Leal, handicrafts of J’s Crafts and GDH (Quirino).

Five (5) Couple Entrepreneur took the center stage and received their awards which include Mr. and Mrs. Ireneo Asa of Oishi Cuisine and Delectables (Batanes), Mr. and Mrs. Nestor Viloria of Traders Design (Isabela), Mr. and Mrs.  Renato Millari of Isabela Bags (Santiago City), Mr. and Mrs. Benjamin Baguya of Softbroom and GDH (Nueva Vizcaya), and Mr. and Mrs. Edmund K. Suguitan of EKS Bakeshop (Quirino).

Three (3) Person with Disabilities (PWDs) were also recognized for their efforts and contributions which include Ms. Imee A. Fernandez of Kev Em’s Sari Sari Store (Batanes), Crisante Baloran of Jones PWD Association (Isabela), and Mrs. Zenaida dela Cruz of Gamis RIC (Quirino),

About four (4) Overseas Filipino Workers (OFW) Entrepreneurs were also awarded namely: Mr. Jenkin B. Malupa of North Spirit Café (Batanes), Ms. Lilibeth Umali of Umali’s Enterprises (Cagayan), Ms. Sabina Quezon of OWWA-Aritao Chapter (Nueva Vizcaya), and Ms. Elisa B. Tomas of Melizabeth Food Products

Meanwhile, there were seven (7) Cooperative/Associations awarded which includes Milagrosa Multi-Prupose Cooperative (Batanes), Baggao Weavers Association (Baggao), San Agustin Dairy Cooperative (Isabela), Villaverde Multi Purpose Cooperative (Nueva Vizcaya), Alfonso Castañeda Processors Association (Alfonso Castañeda), and Diffun Farmers Livelihood Association (Quirino).
