From August 25-29, 2014, the Dairy Cluster Team of Region 02 went  on  a study mission to Thailand  to benchmark on the latter’s dairy cluster business models, experiences, strategies and best practices in dairy production and processing.

The study mission was part of the region’s Dairy Cluster Implementation Plan, a project under the National Industry Cluster Capacity Enhancement Project (NICCEP) where Region 02 is identified as the lead region for the Dairy Industry Cluster in the country.  

The delegation visited various dairy projects in Thailand by the government and private sectors which include Zonta Dairy Village, Chok-Chai Farm, Nong-Pho Dairy Cooperative and Thai Holstein Association Farm.  Moreover, the delegates also had the opportunity to visit the Dairy Promotion Organization, a major government enabler of the dairy industry in Thailand.

The visit brought about fruitful outcome particularly the exchange of views and sharing of best practices and experiences in the development of dairy industry between the two countries.

Significantly, the participants had the chance to meet officials of the Philippine Embassy, and the Philippine Trade Service Corp (PTSC) for a courtesy call with briefing on possible technical cooperation/ interventions for the dairy cluster project  in region 02.  

The 25-member delegation was headed by DTI-R02 Regional Director Ma. Esperanza C. Banares with representatives from the different dairy village enterprises in the region, academe (state universities), local government units, and regional line agencies.
